In Early 2020, as the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, spread, hand sanitizers sales began to grow. By  March 11,  the World Health Organization (WHO) officially upgraded to outbreak to a global pandemic. Health agencies everywhere recommended that people refrain from touching public surfaces like door handles and handrails 

We already know how hand sanitizer are vital to helping us to stay healthy. But you are aware of the helping hand these products get from petroleum.

Not the Belittle the serious nature of the COVID-19 virus and its effect on work, life, social situations and more  but the point is use Soap and Sanitizer.

The petroleum derivatives in soap are vital to enabling soap to pull dirt and germs from our skin. This is absolutely critical during cold and flu season and even more so during widespread viral infections such as we are experiencing right now with COVID-19.


Hand Sanitizers also have a petrochemical connection. Petroleum derived Ethanol, along with Propanol and Isopropanol are important to hand sanitizers because they are highly soluble in water. It's these ingredients that destroy pathogens which cause COVID-19 by breaking apart proteins, splitting cells into peices  or messing with a cell's metabolism.

Alcohol-based versions typically contain some combination of isopropyl alcohol, ethanol (ethyl alcohol), or n-propanol, with versions containing 60% to 95% alcohol the most effective. Care should be taken as they are flammable. Alcohol-based hand sanitizer works against a wide variety of microorganisms but not spores.


Main Ingredients in Hand Saniters are 

The key ingredient in most hand sanitizers is alcohol. Chemically speaking, alcohols are organic molecules made of carbon, oxygen and hydrogen. Ethanol is the chemical in alcoholic drinks and is the chemical most people are thinking of when they say alcohol.



Using Alcohol Based Sanitizers 

- If you Don't have access to water, use a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.

- Place enough alcohol based hand rub into the cupped palm of one hand.

- Rubbed the liquid into the Palms, back of hands, between Fingers and under nails.
