Engineer’s Day... India has produced many engineers over decades, but the most eminent engineer has the country has ever produced Sir mokshagundam Visvesvaraya better known as M. Visvesvaraya. Indians celeberatehis birthday as the engineers day on 15 September every year. An engineers par excellence, M Visvesvaraya has contributed a lot in nation building with his designs and creations. He was the chief architect behind the construction of Krishna Raja Sagara dam in Mandya which helped to convert the surrounding Barren land into fertile ground for farming. Apart from his contribution in the field of engineering, he was also called the"precursor of economic planning in India", according to the Institution of Engineers India (IEI). His books, "Reconstructing India"and "Planned Economy of India" were published in 1920 and 1934. He was awarded Knight in 1915 while serving the Diwan of Mysore, and received Bharat Ratna in 1955.
